Sony to Gamers: We want all your money. And your children.

So.

Sony finally took the wraps off the details for the PS3. It's coming out November 17th, and the minimum it's going to cost you is $499.99.

Yes, you read that right, $499.99. Jesus, this thing better come with a blowjob for that kind of jack, but it's not listed on the systems features.

MSNBC article

The enormous pricetag seems to primarily because of the decision to include their Hight Definition Blu-Ray technology for DVD playback on the thing. I'm not sure that Blu-Ray isn't the 2006 name for "BetaMax". Sony also seems to be engaging in a lot of "me too", copying Microsoft's ill-thought out two SKU release that was a near disaster at X360 launch, and Nintendo's motion-sensitive controller scheme.

Right now I'm of the opinion that I ain't paying $600 for the non-gimped version of the PS3, but I'm weak, so we'll see what happens closer to release date.

Hey Joel...you're the only person who will think this is cool, but my brother was at E3 to pimp his album to game companies etc...and apparently, that show is "the coolest fucking thing I've ever seen" according to him.

Apparently it's not just the games, but the nearly nude hot chicks, and the prizes they give out. Can just anybody go to that thing?

Anyway, while I'm sitting here looking at bills to print out, he gets to hang out and play unreleased games on plasma TV's.

Life sucks

It's supposedly an industry show, but it's fairly easy for just about any average Joe to weasel their way in. I've heard it's awesome to go once, but after that it's the same thing every year, just different games. I'd like to go one of these days, though. Tell your brother he sucks.

The girls are actually quite a bit tamer this year, because they imposed new restrictions on what the girls can wear and do. Apparently it was getting quite sleazy. Buzzkills.

Here's a link to this year's crop of Booth Babes
